In honor of the long-standing relationship between the United States Armed Forces and Wild Mustangs, Veterans R&R “Operation Wild Horse” provides and Equine Facilitated Learning program to McHenry County Veterans and Military Families.

Wild Mustangs are used, in the present day, by the United States Marine Corps for their Mounted Color Guard based out of Barstow, California. The United States Army also uses Wild Mustangs at Arlington National Cemetery for Caisson horses and they are additionally used by the United States Border Patrol to protect our Nation’s Borders.

Operation Wild Horse is a program of Veterans R&R a 501c3 NFP based out of Bull Valley, Illinois that provides Veterans and Military Families the opportunity to experience the healing effects that Wild Mustangs provide. There is a direct correlation between the Wild Mustangs, Military Personnel and Veterans. When the connection is made it is said to be “Life Changing”.  Our participants are taught horsemanship and riding skills. They also proudly carry our Nations Colors in parades; at community events and veteran gatherings throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.

The Mustangs in the program have been adopted directly from the Bureau of Land Management, saved from kill pens or adopted through the Mustang Heritage Foundation. The program is supported 100% through donations and at zero cost to the participants.

Your donation to Veterans R&R "Operation Wild Horse" is a part of a larger scale effort to reduce the Veterans Suicide rate of 22 Veterans per day. Many Veterans face multiple challenges after returning home and this goes unnoticed for decades. “Operation Wild Horse” via horses teaches skills and provides tools for better relationships with family, work and community.

The October 20th fundraiser event will feature raffles and live auctions. In addition to monetary donations, we are seeking in-kind donations to feature in these activities. All proceeds directly benefit Veterans R&R "Operation Wild Horse."
